You are members of
a famous record company (Cash Money Records). What are some of the things that
you and your team half to prepare for?
Here’s a thought...
you will need to use your skills in math, music and time management to prepare
for your artist.
The Task Home
Cash Money Records
has set a budget of 100,000.00 for the recording session, since this is a new
artist, and there is know information on how this artist will sell to the
public. As a team you will have to
select the right studio, arranger, songwriter, lawyer and set the time frame
for the recording session that will fall within your budget. You have five days to prepare your report
for review by the Executive Producer.
Use the links given below to search of information on the Internet.
Note: the artist
will be recording 12 songs, and you only have a budget of 100,000.00.
Your group will be
comprised of five members. Each member will have a specific role in completing
this task.

Everyone's a
critic! And it is through these critiques that you learn. Your group will
be evaluated in four stages. There are 3 types of critics. First,
you will critique your own work. Usually you are the hardest on
yourself. Then, one of the other audience members (the class) will become
the critic. Finally, I will let you know how I feel about your
presentation. The rubric is an authentic assessment tool, which is
particularly useful in assessing the criteria areas.
The rubric is set
up on a scale from 1 to 5. Average the numbers down the evaluation
columns. The result can be transposed to the following:
5 - 100%
4 -
90%
3 -
80%
2 -
70%
1 -
60%
0
- 0% (Will only be given if NO work is done)
Your team
collaborated to present a report that would please not only the Executive
producer, but the artist as well. You should be proud. Bridges have
been built. You have made new friends, grown in your understanding of how
difficult it is to work in the music industry. Did you have any idea that
something so monumental would include math?
Read and answer the
following statement:
"Explain how
your view of the music business has change based on your work with the
team".
