Introduction

Four of Mother Goose’s nursery rhymes have been stolen.  She thinks it was jealous King Titus.  She never made a rhyme about him.  King Titus is sloppy.  He left clues that you can use to find him.  It will be your job to help Mother Goose find her nursery rhymes.

Task

Together we will investigate to find the four rhymes that were stolen.  There is a nursery rhyme list link that we can use for our search.  We also have books that are available.

We will have to create a rhyme for King Titus after we find the four stolen rhymes.  This way he will never be jealous again.

We will have a recording chart to write down the rhymes we find.

Description of King Titus

King Titus has a big, round belly.  He has rosy cheeks, a little button nose, and golden green eyes.

The Process

Thank you for choosing to help out Mother Goose.

We will do this activity whole group.

Task #1:
We will use the clues given by King Titus to find the stolen nursery rhymes.  When we find them we will print them out so that we can return each one to Mother Goose.

Clues:
1) In this rhyme, there is a broken egg.

2) In this rhyme, there is a small spider.

3) In this rhyme, there is a black sheep.

4) In this rhyme, there is a broken crown.

Task #2:

After we have found the rhymes, there is one more job to do!  We must create a nursery rhyme for King Titus.  This nursery rhyme needs to be about King Titus.  Mother Goose has asked you to do this so that the King will never be jealous again.  Hopefully he will never steal Mother Goose's nursery rhymes again.
